چکیده

Abstract--The aim of this work is the consideration of so-called non-Schmid effects within nonassociated single crystal plasticity at small strains. To this end, two additional activating mechanisms for dislocation flow on a slip system are modelled. For convenience the corresponding algorithmic setting is discussed in the sequel. Next, the influence of non-Schmid effects and non-associativity on the response behaviour of a single crystal within a simple shear deformation is examined. Subsequently, the theoretical framework for the localization analysis within multisurface plasticity is presented. Finally, the impact of non-Schmid effects on the orientation of a possible localization band and the corresponding critical hardening modulus are investigated for a simple model problem. ,~ 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. Non-Schmid effects and finite wavelength instabilities in single crystal metals

A long standing postulate in crystal plasticity of metals, known as Schmid law, states that yielding commences once the resolved shear stress on a slip plane reaches a critical value. While non-Schmid effects have previously been reported experimentally (mostly in alloys) and in molecular-dynamics simulations, we examine the validity of this assumption through phonon stability analysis. We subj...

Constitutive equations for modeling non-Schmid effects in single crystal bcc-Fe at low and ambient temperatures

Constitutive equations are developed for single crystal bcc-Fe at low and ambient temperatures based on the assumption that non-Schmid effects are primarily influential on orientation dependence and tension–compression asymmetry of the initial yield stress. Temperature dependence of the non-Schmid parameters is extracted from a fit to available experimental data. Constitutive models are also de...

Ratcheting crystal plasticity modeling in microstructure of magnesium alloy under stress-controlled cyclic tensile loading with non-zero mean stress

Todays, the requirement of lowering the vehicle weight for the reduction of the fuel consumption and emissions, one of the methods considered by designers is to use the ligh magnesium alloy under cylclic loadings. In this article, considering the microstructure of the AZ91D magnesium alloy, its crystalline structure, a model for predicting the ratcheting behavior of this alloy was adapted and v...

New implementation of a non-associated flow rule in rate-independent plasticity

One of the new research fields in plasticity is related to choosing a proper non-associated flow rule (NAFR), instead of the associated one (AFR), to predict the experimental results more accurately. The idea of the current research is derived from combining von Mises and Tresca criteria in the places of yield and plastic potential surfaces in rate-independent plasticity.  This idea is implemen...
